Get Well Soon

Last week my office sent a get-well card around for one of the ladies I knew to be in the hospital. There was even a checklist to ensure all staff would sign it. When I first saw her back I thought she looked really good but wouldn’t tell her that for fear the change was a sickness induced weight loss or something. Surely no one can think it is a compliment to look better sick than healthy. I didn’t ask why she was ill, I think those things are private so I just told her I was glad to see her back. A few minutes later I heard her talk about her “staples” I turned to look and saw they are in fact in her face, more specifically, in her scalp. My first thought was that this poor woman had her face ripped off by a vicious dog or large bird! So in a genuinely concerned voice I asked if she was ok now. She replied by telling me about the pain she still feels in her ear and how her face is swollen still after a week. It could have been the confused look on my face but she realized I didn’t know how this had happened to her so she finally told me. She had a face-lift.

Is self-induced pain worthy of a get-well card? If I went to get my boobs done, do you think they’d buy me flowers?

I found this photo on this guys page: http://thomashawk.com/2005_06_01_archive.html

I love photography, but I don't make time for it. I haven't read what he's written, but his photos are fantastic!

The picture kind of scares me. I don't know why. It just looks creepy. REALLY COOL but creapy. I get a similar feeling when I look at you actually. Huh...strange.

You get your face done and I'll get you daisies.

No guarantees about any other body parts. I wouldn't want you to get overwhelmed with foliage (you know, from the tremendous response I'm sure you'll have).

PS Yes, picture is cool but creepy.

This is what I like about Photography, you both find it creepy and I just love it. It is only creepy to me to think that someone I know has staples like these in their face. Why creepy to you?

I love this picture completely aside from my post though. It has no choice but to show its past. Imagine all the signs this post has seen. ‘Lost Dog’ ‘Vote yes Prop.10’ ‘Vote no Prop.10’ ‘Yard Sale’ ‘Want to loose weight?’ ‘single?’ ‘concert in the park’ ‘recycle’ ‘choose life’ ‘choose to choose’ ‘Car For Sale’ ‘no parking’ ‘missing man’ ‘man wanted’ ‘CHEESE’

I imagine if the staples were removed the surface would be reduced to a splintered mess, which would make it difficult to hang new signs. Who knew the staple for the lost cat in 95 would be essential to find out about hair removal in 06? It makes my mind wander. I like this picture.

The picture is very cool. As I have already said. This is actually the kind of photography I really like. I don't like shadowed fruit. Dumb.

The picture is creepy to me becuase it's so close up. I had to look it for a few minutes to figure out what it was. And considering you were blogging about someones face having staples it made me wonder and creeped me out.

Also the thing I noticed about it was more the yellow protective piece that they put up to help where the wood was eroding. And all though it's there to protect and help it, it didn't stop the staples that are still over coming it. Almost as if the post is under attack. Cool but creepy.

When my mom gave birth to me (C-section), they stiched her up using staples. I'm not kidding. They stapled her with a small gun and took 'em out a few weeks later.

With my brother (C-section #2), they used a type of packaging tape. She said she felt so nervous because she thought her belly was going to spill open. I don't know how they took the tape off.
